Description: Methodology and limitations for the free Indie Chains Domain Rating checker.
# Free Domain Rating Checker

The Indie Chains Domain Rating checker lets a visitor request the current available Ahrefs Domain Rating for a public domain without creating an account.

## Method

1. Normalize the submitted URL to a valid public domain.
2. Request the latest available Domain Rating from Ahrefs.
3. Return the score with a retrieval timestamp.
4. Optionally store recent successful checks in the visitor's browser.

## Limitations

- Domain Rating is an Ahrefs metric, not a Google metric.
- It estimates backlink-profile strength and is not a complete website-quality score.
- It does not measure editorial relevance, trustworthiness, conversion potential, or content quality by itself.
- A higher Domain Rating does not guarantee higher rankings.
- Results can change as Ahrefs discovers links and recalculates its index.
